We start with a “revealed text,” such as the Bible or the Koran, a book supposedly written by men who were divinely inspired, and accept its teachings without question. So, for example, if the Bible says that burning bushes speak, men live inside whales, women are turned to pillars of salt, or virgins give birth, then these beliefs, no matter how bizarre, must be accepted by a religious man who is faithful to the teachings of the Bible. On the basis of faith, any claim, no matter how absurd, must be blindly accepted.
